Josef Žák
se narodil v Praze roku 1984. Po studiích hry na housle na Pražské konzervatoři, Hochschule für Musik v Drážďanech a Hudební fakulty AMU v Praze se zaměřil na interpretaci hudby 17. a 18. století, a získal v roce 2015 magisterský titul na Pařížské konzervatoři (CNSM de Paris) v oboru barokní housle.
Od roku 2010 žije v Paříži, kde působí ve francouzských orchestrech i komorních tělesech specializovaných na interpretaci barokní a klasicistní hudby : Les Arts Florissants (William Christie), Les Talens Lyriques (Christophe Rousset), Ensemble Correspondances, Matheus (Jean-Christophe Spinosi), Opéra Fuoco (David Stern), Les Musiciens de Saint Julien (François Lazarevitch), Insula Orchestra a dalších.
Josef Žák studoval v letech 2010 – 2012 na École du Choeur Grégorien de Paris, kde byl formován v interpretaci a dirigování gregoriánského chorálu. Od roku 2010 je členem Choeur Grégorien de Paris, v roce 2014 byl jmenován jeho uměleckým vedoucím.
Působí v řadě souborů jako umělecký vedoucí (Castelkorn, PRJCT Amsterdam) a pravidelně či příležitostně je zván jako koncertní či sólista (Les Épopées, Orchestre de l’Opéra Royale Versailles, La Chiméra, Collegium 1704, Czech Ensemble Baroque, Concerto Aventino…).
Josef Žák, born in Prague in 1984, studied violin at the Prague Conservatoire, at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and at Hochschule für Musik in Dresden. Since 2011 he specializes in music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. During the studies of the baroque violin at the Conservatoire National de Paris, where he received the master diploma in 2015, he tried to absorb the musical style of his teachers: P. Bismuth, F. Fernandez, S.-M. Degand, E. Onofri, M. Glodeanu.
Žák works together with famous musicians and groups – Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien (François Lazarewitch), Ensemble Clément Janéquin (Dominique Visse) – conductors – William Christie (Les Arts Florissants), Christophe Rousset (Les Talens Lyriques), David Stern (Opera Fuoco), Václav Luks (Collegium 1704) etc.
As a leader, he plays regularly with PRJCT Amsterdam (Maarten Engeltjes), Les Epopées (Stéphane Fuget).
In 2016 he creates a new chamber music ensemble “Castelkorn”. His first CD “Lamentevole” appears in January 2018 by the label Eloquentia (Philippe Maillard).
